Best Places to Eat in Tokyo
Published Saturday, December 20th 2025 - Updated Saturday, January 24th 2026Heading to Tokyo? Here is a short list of our favorite restaurants around various districts. Be sure to check out the following restaurants in Tokyo based on pricing and family fun:
Best Fine Fare
Teppanyaki Sumiyaki Saito - Go here if you want the best quality Wagyu beef but also caters to vegetarians. Premium ingredients come fresh from local sources in a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Sushi Yuu - Wanting the best sushi but don't want to feel like you're eating in a library? This second generation chef serves up traditional Edomae where you learn and taste a wide variety of sushi (and the dessert isn't bad either).
Teppanyaki Akasaka - For breathtaking views and Teppanyaki, look no further than this restaurant in the Intercontinental. Doesn't get better than this menu: Kobe beef, fresh seafood, and a kids menu to tempt just about anyone.
Asian Comfort Food
GYOPAO Gyoza Roppongi - Make sure you get reservations as this is a popular hot spot for standout soup dumplings. You won't leave hungry with its generous portions and friendly service.
Japanese Food Wagyu Restaurant - For eyewatering Wagyu experience, it is only a short train hop away with everything from burgers to ramen to tempt your taste buds.
Laid Back Fun
Ninja Akasaka - Step back into the Edo period down hidden corridors where your wait staff are trained ninjas and the food is ninja-themed. Your family will be entertained with martial arts demonstrations and sword tricks - so make reservations early. They do not accommodate children under 6 however.
Pokemon Cafe - Just who hasn't heard of the Pokemon Cafe? Make reservations months in advance or be a sad emoji.
Check out the local Japanese supermarkets - they have some of the best prepared food to take and go like bento, yakisoba, Caprese salad, and even tuna salad. Buy some chips, drinks, fruit and enjoy! Feel really lazy? Some supermarkets will actually deliver too.
Looking for some place to eat at Tokyo's Disneyland or Disneysea? Check out these gems:
Best table service: Magellan's (DISNEYSEA) - for its inspired explorer theme and fine dining (several four course prix fixe). If you are bold, ask to dine in the 'secret' dining room. Note: the food is not going to be the typical Mickey-shaped food found in the Park and the portion sizes tend to be small, but really hit the flavor impact for fine dining.
Close second for table service: Blue Bayou (DISNEYLAND) - just like the one here in LA, serving French-creole dishes in a romantic setting near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
Best Quick Service: Royal Banquet of Arendelle (DISNEYSEA) - for its Nordic faithfulness to Frozen the movie and the tastiest seafood pot pie. Note: it is a huge complex of dining rooms so if your party splits up to order, make sure you know where they sat.
Close second for Quick service: Camp Woodchuck Kitchen (DISNEYLAND) - Smaller than Hungry Bear Restaurant, it is a mess hall to just relax in right by the Rivers of America. Can't go wrong with Maple Fried Chicken Waffle sandwiches and Smores.
