Ask anyone their opinion of the latest movie and you'll get several. Just take a look at a place like Rotten Tomatoes. This blog will review movies you'll see on the airplanes and cruise ships, but you won't see a star rating. This system is purely entertaining and will be based on whether or not I'd recommend anyone to pay to see these movies. Feel free to request me to provide a movie review, but keep in mind we are family oriented here so not going to find 50 Shades of Grey or Alien VS Predator. I will do my best to not put spoilers in the review.
Movie Name | Recommendation | Comments |
Aquaman | Free | |
Crazy Rich Asians | Pay or free | You don't have to be Asian to fall in love with this romantic comedy. Great scenery, acting, and themes around family make a big impact. Hopefully we won't have to wait another 25 years for a sequel. |
Captain Marvel | Pay or free
First Man | Free | |
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle | Free | Better than the original, you will root for these video game avatars in this fish out of water campy movie. It is no wonder this sleeper hit has a sequel coming. |
Mary Poppins Returns | Skip | Sequels just show how hard it is to match the originality and fun of the first movie. Although very colorful and at times whimsical, the movie has not the joy and energy you would expect. A special person from the first film manages to steal the show at the end. |
Ready Player One | Free | You will almost have to watch the movie twice to catch all of the pop culture references loaded in this film, but the allure of VR will suck you in. |
Return of Mary Poppins | Free
Searching | Free | This mystery about every parent's worst nightmare - when your child goes missing - is worth watching from the various unique social media angles used to tell the story. Good lesson for kids (and adults) to know not everyone you meet is who you think they are. |
Skyscraper | Free | Besides the weak title, the movie gives every demographic something to cheer for; just ignore the plot flaws. |
The Incredibles 2 | Pay or free | Great entertainment for the whole family which has matured well since the first; Baby Jack Jack (with Edna) still steals the show. |
Tomb Raider: 2018 | Skip | Supposedly more realistic, this reboot has the audience asking "really?" at the same time as the protagonist. Better movies out there. |
