Urban Sophistication

Singapore is a unique city-state with multi-cultural influences.  Singapore has often been called the place where "East meets West."   Singapore has several distinct ethnic neighborhoods, including Kampong Glam, Geylang Serai, Chinatown and Little India.

You can tell Singapore is different the minute you step food in the airport. The airport is so well-loved that locals enjoy spending their weekends here; check out their many gardens, free movie screenings, and even a swimming pool.  It is ranked as one of the best airports in the world to have a layover.

You've heard a lot about the weather in SE Asia?  Well Singapore is no exception. Sitting just north of the equator, Singapore doesn't really have any seasons. Instead, expect hot and humid weather year-round, although the wettest months are from November to February. Whenever you visit, you can expect swift downpours followed by clear skies.

Glamour is the name of the game when you go to Singapore - whether it be fashion or dining. If you have seen the movie "Crazy Rich Asians", you have seen parts of what make this island nation so unique:

  • The movie showcases the Newton Food Center, but there are many "hawker" centers where the food is inexpensive and the chefs have Michelin stars. Try what the locals are having like: Wanton Mee, Kaya Toast & Soft-Boiled Eggs, Crabs (Chilli Or Pepper), or Fried Carrot Cake (Not a dessert!)
  • Chijmes although currently a popular wedding venue, started as a convent and was many other things such as an orphanage.  It is a self-contained city block of various architectures added over the years.  Now also containing shops, courtyards, and restaurants.
  • Gardens By The Bay is a beautiful waterfront garden installation with temperature-controlled domes that house thousands of plants and trees from all around the world. There's a waterfall, lakes, restaurants, and event spaces. It's worth it for a glimpse of the Supertrees alone, which are man-made tree sculptures covered in plants.
  • The Marina Bay Sands, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in Singapore, is a huge integrated resort that includes a luxury hotel and the world's highest and largest infinity pool. Oh, and you can shop there, too, if you want a taste of the luxury lifestyle from the movie. There's even the Art Science Museum if you want some culture.
  • Also don't miss the Buddha Tooth relic temple: A visit to this temple can be a memorable experience because it is rich is history (back to Tang Dynasty) and art.
